Happy New Years!

Well, I’m back from my holiday break. I kicked 2008 in with a bang, and I’m ready to start rocking and rolling in 2008. I have big plans and I think things are really going to be awesome in the new year. I finally get back to the lab tonight and I’ll ship out the orders that I got while I was away.

Here’s whats new:

Price Drop: PowerComms v1.3
I did a huge order, and now I’m passing on the savings to you. From $5.00 to $3.50. Good stuff.

Out of Stock: Stepper Motors
These guys sold out in like 4 days. I’m ordering another round. These guys sure are fun!

New Product: Skate Bearings
Skate bearings are used heavily in the McWire design and are just generally awesome and handy. Unfortunately they are kinda pricey through skate shops. I found a bulk supplier and now am proud to offer some high quality YAK ABEC-3 bearings. A pack of 8 costs $5.00. Pretty darn good price I’d say.

RRRF New Years Resolutions:

  • Kits, kits, kits! I want electronics kits + components, full extruder kits, and the holy grail: full RepRap machine kit.
  • Keep everything in stock. Not always possible, but I’m trying.
  • Get 501.3(c) tax exemption. We’re registered as a non-profit, but we don’t have the tax exemption… yet. I filled out most of the paperwork and now just have to go over it with the Software Freedom lawyers.
  • Lose 5 pounds. (shipping costs hurt, ya know? ;)

  1. I really want the lasercut parts for the repstrap 1.0. Have you been able to cut them all? If you have, how much will you sell 8 bearing arms, 6 endstop mounts, one x stage, one y stage, one vertical base, four vertical bearing arms, and one z stage for? Please help me, I AM DESPERATE!

  2. I got my email address wrong. It is inspectorgadget614@gmail.com.

  3. I purchased the boards kit for your Arduino based system. Does that come with the components? I don’t think it does. Where can I get a list of the electronic components needed for each board?

  4. Hey David,

Yes, these are PCBs only. Full kits are in the works.

There are a couple ways. The easiest is to go to http://parts.reprap.org. Select the proper boards and quantities (pay attention to version #s). It will show you a list of parts and suppliers. If you select Mouser, then on the next page it will generate a parts list and a link where you can simply copy and paste the list to add the whole order to your cart… no chance for error.

Alternatively, you can wait until the boards arrive, and each board has a URL to its own specific page where it links to the exact page on the part lister. Then you do the part list generation process again.

    Hope this helps!

  5. By the way, David, bitsfrombytes.com going to sell electronic components kits this week.

I don’t think it REALLY will be THIS week, next week looks more realistic.
