Getting Closer
New Products!
Drilled / Tapped PTFE Thermal Barriers
In addition to the raw thermal barriers we offer for sale on the RRRF store, we now also carry drilled and tapped versions that are completely finished and ready to be used in an extruder. They are drilled out at 1/8″, and tapped for a standard 3/8″ thread. They were professionally done, and are of a high quality. Make sure you select the ‘Drilled/Tapped’ option if you add it to your order.
Drilled Heater Barrels
To complement the new PTFE Thermal Barriers, we have drilled heater barrels. They are made from 3/8″ threaded aluminum studding, and are drilled straight-through. They are also of a very high quality. Make sure you select the ‘Drilled’ option if you add it to your order.
Belt Kit
To help serve overseas researchers, we now offer a kit that has all the belt you need (16 feet) For you Yankees in the USA, just use McMaster.
Opto Switch
Another new product to help overseas researchers, we now offer the standard opto switch used in the Opto Endstop boards.
Thermistor
This is another new product for overseas researchers. It is easily available in the States, but hard to come by in other areas.

Extruder Kits
We have 10 kits in the works, and plans to make more after that. This is one of the last pieces in the puzzle of getting RepRap parts out to interested researchers, and I’m very excited for the day when I can make the blog entry announcing their availability. I don’t have a solid date yet, but my guess is that I’ll have them in stock in 2-3 weeks. We’re talking a full kit here. Everything from the nozzle to the drive screw to the housing components… everything! For now, you can check out the blog entry on the main site that has pictures and information on the prototype model. If you *absolutely* want to make sure you get one, please email me directly and I can reserve one for you. Otherwise keep checking this site for updates.

I think “kit” word is incorrect for 16-fit-long timebelt strip…it’s not a kit, but part. Do I mistaken?
After all, I really impressed by this new products portion, and especialy by aluminium RP parts you show at flickr.
How much will the kit cost Zach?
if its the extruder kit i read somwhere on the forum that the first ten would probably be 90$ and the rest would be somwhere around 70$
Hi Zach,
Are the drilled thermal barrier and heater barrel already sold out? I cannot choose them in the store. (i managed to destroy the previous ones while drilling them myself)
Ron
Yeah, we’re out of stock on those. I put in an order for 50 more of each, so hopefully we’ll have more in 2-3 weeks. They definitely are quite tricky to make… I know I had tons of problems with them.
Thank god for machinists.
Circa how long time will it be until the extruder kits arrive?
depending on how fast we get the molds, probably somewhere between 3-4 weeks.
aw =/
2.5 weeks ago you said probably 2-3 weeks ^^
Well, heres what happened. Last week, we got in a very limited quantity (10 sets). After those sets were gone, it was going to be another 2-3 weeks before the next set. I made an announcement in the forums, as I wanted the extruders to go to the most active people in the community. Sorry about that. :-/
The next round is going to be molded, and we’ll be able to make them much faster. They will also be much cheaper as well. Probably half the cost of the aluminum based extruders. I’ll definitely make the announcement on the blog here, as we will have a reliable supply of those parts.
Sorry about the confusion.
no problem, i posted on the forum thread, but i think i was poster #15 or so, so i wouldnt have been betwen the first 10 even if you had just taken the top 10 on the thread ^^
but does that mean that the rest wont be of aluminium?
yeah, we’re switching to cast, resin-based extruders until we can reliably print them. check out this blog post on Adrians progress:
http://blog.reprap.org/2007/08/repraps-by-ton-ii.html
they are going to be quite nice: half the price, easier/faster to make, and they are clear.
i’ll post a new thread when we get them in stock.
How briskly can somebody expect to lose weight?
